The Alphabet Tree is a very well-established setting in the heart of Caerphilly with an excellent reputation for providing quality childcare. We began in 2004 with our Day Nursery with the main aim of providing a safe, secure, happy, loving and nurturing environment for children aged three months to five years. We have been pleased that over the years many families return to us as repeat customers and despite hardly any advertising we remain full through word of mouth and our reputation.

In 2024 we were successful in our tender to provide wraparound care, after school and holiday clubs at Cwrt Rawlin, our local primary school. The wraparound care operates from a new onsite, purpose designed childcare unit. The after school and holiday clubs operate from the school sports hall which is adjoining the childcare unit. We are also able to use the school’s playgrounds and forest school area.

The addition of The Alphabet Tree at Cwrt Rawlin complements our existing provision perfectly, meaning that we can now provide continuity of care for many children from babies right through to when they finish primary school up to age 12.

The Alphabet Tree Day Nursery is registered with Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) to provide full day care for a maximum of 81 boys and girls.

Our wraparound service which is part of Cwrt Rawlin Primary school can provide wraparound care for a maximum of 24 children. The After School Club Holiday Club at Cwrt Rawlin can provide care for a maximum of 50 children.

Apple Tree Room: 3 months to 18 months

Lower Blossom Tree Room: 18 months to 2 years

Upper Blossom Tree Room: 2 years to 2 ½ years

Cherry Tree Room: 2 ½ years to 3 years

Elm Tree Room: 2 ½ years to 3 years

Oak Tree Room: 3 years to 5 years

Wraparound Service: 3 years to 5 years

After School & Holiday Club: 3 years to 12 years

The Alphabet Tree at Cwrt Rawlin

The new, purpose designed childcare unit features one large base room with 4 children’s toilets and a nappy change area. There is also a large foyer which incorporates a quiet area for relaxing.

Our after-school club will be held in the sports hall attached to the childcare unit with adjoining doors. This will give the children access to the 4 children’s toilet/2 staff toilets, role play area and chill out space on the decking area and foyer.

Our outdoor spaces are used daily to allow all children to enjoy time spent in the fresh air.

Our wraparound unit and after school club will both have access to the Cwrt Rawlin’s large outdoor play areas and forest school. We are in the process of developing our outdoor garden area. This will have an enclosed grass and decking area which will be accessible for all settlings.

Activities

We follow the principals of the seven learning outcomes and all children are encouraged to take part in activities that are suitable for their age and stage of development.

Examples of activities offered are:

· Arts and crafts – painting, sticking, junk modelling

· Sand / water play

· Outdoor play

· Soft play
